Getting the order of wedding speeches correct is not an issue as after all it is your wedding and you can choose who you wish to hear first.  On the other hand if you wish to take the traditional route then this is how it should be:-

Your confident Master of Ceremonies (MC) can either be the best man or someone of your choice and that is where it all begins.  CLICK HERE for MC eBook.

Step 1:- If yours is a catholic wedding the first words you will hear from the MC will be inviting your wedding priest to say grace before meals.   If it is not a catholic reception move to step 2.

The speeches usual happen between the main course and the desserts.

Step 2: Your MC or bestman will begin by outlining the procedures with regard to the speech making, almost like the newsman, he/she will tell ‘em what you are going to tell them, then tell ‘em, and then tell ‘em what you have told them.

Step 3: MC calls on the first speaker Father of the Bride.

Order of Wedding Speeches - who cares?

This will be a very emotional day for the father of the Bride so here are some hints and tips on how to keep it together and make a funny wedding speech while keeping your guests interested.   Nerves are good as they get the adrenaline going and keeps you on your toes.

Before standing up to speak take three deep breaths, inhale down to your toes and exhale with a puff of air, place the top of your index finger and your the top of your thumb together in each hand as this can helps you with clarity of speech and your memory.   The speech father of the bride makes can be turned into a funny wedding speech by telling tales about your daughter as a young girl – dig deep as there are always lots of funny incidences that have happened in your daughters life, the one that I recall about my own daughter is when she told her Daddy’s boss, (in front of both of us) that her daddy said that ‘he did not like him’ which proves that she is not behind the door in speaking her mind or in still embarrassing her lovely dad etc.. People love to hear funny stories about the bride and groom, another good example would be the first time you met her now new husband.  Oh there are so many incidences that can have your guests listening with all ears and almost begging for more.   Click here for wedding speeches for father of bride and for father of the groom speech.

Step 4: The MC thanks the father of the Bride for his wonderful speech and calls on the father of the Groom for his speech.   Again use the relaxing techniques that will help you with clarity of speech and your memory as outlined above.

Step 5: The MC again thanks the father of the groom  and picks out some witty part of the father of the grooms speeches to refer to.   Back to that catholic wedding, next would be the priest and to be fair to everyone I would be telling the priest well in advance that you are giving him 5 minutes, in other words, keep it brief.  If yours is not the catholic wedding or if you do not have the registrar at your wedding then move to step 5.

Step 6: Next comes the grooms speeches  – like all grooms he will have plenty to say and why not after all it is his day.    To keep the humor in the groom’s speech he can remember funny incidences that happened in his romantic days with his new girlfriend, meeting the parents, etc.   Be articulate, clear and humorous throughout and you will have your guests begging for more.  At this stage it would be good for the groom to toast his new wife and it would be so awesome if unknown to your new wife you had written her a love poem – don’t despair for great ideas on Love poems click here.  You should be well practised at speech making at this stage what with the engagement speech, speeches rehearsal dinner, grooms speeches, and in the future don’t forget about the wedding anniversary speeches and you are loving it.

Step 7: Finally it is now the bestman speeches and this is the one that everyone is waiting for and looking forward to, especially the bride and the groom as they are wondering what embarassing stories you have for them – so sock it to them and have them all eating out of the palm of your hand with delight.

Step 8: Once the meal is complete and you are still at that catholic wedding the final speaker is the priest to say grace after meals.

Step 9: Then it is back to you to perform the toasts and to call on anyone esle that may wish to speak, what about the brides speech or bridesmaid speeches perhaps they have something they too would like to talk about.

Step 10:   Now it is time to relax and bring on the dancing girls.

Relax and celebrate for having completed the most interesting speeches of all time.
